Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Disconnect battery ground cable and secure it out of the way.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
2. Remove fuel cap.
3. Release pressure from fuel system.
4. Remove fuel injection supply manifold.
Fuel Injector:
5. Carefully remove connectors from fuel charging wiring to individual fuel injectors.
6. Grasping fuel injector body, pull up while gently rocking fuel injector from side to side.
7. Inspect fuel injector 0-rings (two per fuel injector) for signs of deterioration. Replace as required.
8. Inspect fuel injector end cap, body and washer for signs of dirt and deterioration.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new 0-rings with clean engine oil.
CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the injectors.
2. Install fuel injectors using a light, twisting-pushing motion.
3. Install fuel injection supply manifold.
4. Install connectors from fuel charging wiring to fuel injectors.
5. Connect battery negative ground cable. Turn ignition switch On/Off several times without starting engine to pressurize system. Check for fuel leaks.
