Variable Induction Control Actuator: Service and Repair
CAUTIONFollow the procedure below to disconnect the cable end from the housing bracket and/or the nail head clip from the shaft. Never pry the nail head clip off the nail head stud. If the cable is damaged, the actuator assembly must be replaced.
REMOVAL
Cable End Fitting:
1. Squeeze in on the cable end-fitting clip wings with long, bent nose pliers and pull up on the conduit until the fitting disengages from the bracket.
Proper Screwdriver Positioning:
2. Position a blunt, flat blade screwdriver tip on top of the nail bead clip. While holding the cable core wire taught to maintain alignment, tap the handle of the screwdriver straight down. The clip will pop off the nail head.
Another way to do this is to secure the back of the nail head clip with long nose pliers, then push straight down firmly to pop the clip off the nail head stud.
INSTALLATION
1. Align the nail head clip over the IMRC Housing lever nail head/stud; then pull straight up on the cable conduit. The clip will click into place.
2. Pull up on the conduit until the cable end fitting clears the top of the bracket; position it over the hole in the bracket; and push in until the fitting wings click into place.
