Variable Induction Control Valve: Description and Operation

IMRC Housing Assembly Ports:

OPERATION
The primary valve ports are always open, allowing air flow for all engine speeds. The secondary ports with the normally-closed valve plates come into play when the PCM detects an increase in engine speed to approximately 3500 rpm. At this engine speed, the PCM commands the actuator assembly to open the secondary ports. The result is optimized engine performance at all engine speeds.

IMRC Actuating Components:

CONSTRUCTION
The housing assembly consists of:

- an aluminum casting with one passage for each intake valve port

- a shaft that operates a valve plate on every other intake port passage

- a return spring that holds the plates closed

- a bracket that connects to a cable from the actuator assembly
