Overview of Program 95B71
July, 1995TO: All Lincoln-Mercury Dealers
SUBJECT:
Owner Notification Program 95B71 - Continental Fuel Delivery Module Replacement
OASIS - Yes
Owner List - Yes
Parts Return - No
Program Coverage - Affected 1995 Continentals are eligible for this
program through December 31, 1999.
Affected Vehicles
1995 model Continentals built from the start of 1995 model production through June 16, 1995 are affected by this program. Continentals are built at the Wixom Assembly plant.
Reason For This Program
Separation of parts of the in-tank fuel delivery module may cause a reduction or loss of fuel pressure. Reduced fuel pressure may result in poor engine performance or cause the engine to stall and not restart.
Service Action
Owners will be notified and asked to return their Continentals for replacement of fuel delivery modules.
Some owners of Continentals affected by this program are also involved in service to replace the virtual image cluster under Owner Notification Program 95B72. Where a Continental is involved in both programs, owners will receive a single letter advising them of the service applicable to their vehicle.
Please make every effort to perform both programs on one service visit.
Special Dealer Parts Ordering Instructions
Because of the timing of the service parts supply you are requested to order modules only for owners returning for service.
Loaner Cars
Ford will pay for loaner cars, if it is necessary, while parts are on order and repairs are being completed, except for fuel costs. Fuel costs are at customer expense. Dealers are to stay within the guideline charges of $30.00/daily for loaners.
Refunds
Only for owner-paid repairs made after the date of the Owner Letter if an emergency repair was made away from the selling dealer.
