Suspension Control ( Automatic - Electronic ): Adjustments

NOTE: This adjustment must be used prior to front caster and camber alignment or ride height checking.

1. Position vehicle on alignment rack.
2. To ensure ride heights are measured at a consistent point they should be measured only after the service bay diagnostic auto mode has successfully been completed and the STAR tester displays a code 12. At this time, place the suspension power switch in the OFF position, remove the STAR tester, and leave the ignition switch in the RUN position.
3. At this point the vehicle is at the top of the trim band.

Ride Height Setup And Measuring:

4. Measure the front suspension "C" dimension as shown. The front ride height (C) is the vertical difference of the lower arm inner pivot attachment height minus the outer pivot height.
5. Measure the rear suspension "D" dimension as shown. The rear ride height "D" is the vertical difference of the rear lower arm inner pivot attachment height minus the outer pivot height.
6. The suspension heights for the top of the trim band are:
a. C dimension, 1.72 inch (43.6 mm).
b. D dimension, minus 0.36 inch (minus 9.3 mm).
7. If the suspension heights are not within the listed specifications, ride height adjustment is required.
8. For reference purposes, the ride heights at the center of the trim band are approximately 0.35 inch (8.8 mm) lower than the above suspension heights in the front and approximately 0.47 inch (12 mm) lower in the rear.

Height Sensor Link Specifications Chart.:

9. If adjustment to front ride height is required, it should be performed by replacing the height sensor link according to chart.
10. When removing a link, carefully separate it from the ball stud with a wide blade screwdriver. Do not damage the link or ball stud. When installing a link to the sensor, support the sensor lever from behind to avoid possible damage to the sensor.
11. Rear height sensor adjustment is performed by loosening and repositioning the height sensor lever adjustment screw. For adjustment purposes, each notch on the rear height sensor lever provides approximately 0.60 inch (15 mm) of ride height adjustment.
