XB70 - Continuous Code 585: Clear and Try to Regenerate Code

Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 585 indicates that when the A/C was turned on, the power-to-A/C clutch circuit exceeded the normal current draw. this could be due to a hard fault or an intermittent condition.

Possible causes:

- Power-to-A/C clutch circuit short to ground.

- Damaged A/C clutch.

- Damaged Variable Control Relay Module (VCRM).

- Clear continuous memory. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

- Start engine.

- Turn A/C "ON", wait 15 seconds.

- A/C "OFF".

- Engine "OFF".

- Rerun Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test.

- Is Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 585 present?

Yes -- DTC 585 is a hard fault. Go to XB71. XB71 - Check A/C Clutch

No -- DTC 585 is intermittent. Go to XB74. XB74 - Check Power to A/C Clutch: Intermittent Short to Ground
