XB80 - Continuous Code 586: Clear and Try to Regenerate Code
Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 586 indicates an open or short to power in the power-to-A/C clutch circuit. This could be due to a hard fault or an intermittent condition.
Possible causes:
- Open or short to power in the power-to-A/C clutch circuit (harness).
- Open A/C clutch ground circuit (to Variable Control Relay Module (VCRM) Pin 13).
- Open VCRM A/C ground (VCRM Pin is to weld nut on LH side radiator support).
- Open circuit in A/C clutch.
- Damaged VCRM.
- Clear continuous memory. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- A/C "OFF", defroster "OFF" (testing for DTC 586 is done only with the A/C "OFF").
- Start engine, wait 15 seconds.
- Engine "OFF".
- Rerun Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
- Is Continuous Memory DTC 586 present?
Yes -- DTC 586 is a hard fault. Go to XB81. XB81 - Check Power to A/C Clutch Circuit For Short to Power
No -- DTC 586 is intermittent. Go to XB85. XB85 - Check A/C Circuits For Intermittent Opens
Service as necessary.
