Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
^ Raise vehicle on hoist.
^ Remove two nuts retaining muffler inlet flange to the muffler inlet pipe flange.
^ Disengage muffler inlet flange from muffler inlet pipe flange studs.
^ Remove two nuts retaining dual converter Y pipe to exhaust outlet pipe frame bracket.
^ Remove four nuts retaining dual converter Y pipe flanges to the three-way catalytic converter outlet flanges.
^ Slide dual converter Y pipe and muffler inlet pipe rearward to disengage dual converter Y pipe from exhaust outlet pipe frame bracket studs. Remove dual converter Y pipe and muffler inlet pipe.
^ Remove muffler inlet pipe from dual converter Y pipe by loosening exhaust clamp and pulling muffler inlet pipe from dual converter Y pipe.
^ Remove three-way catalytic converter flange to exhaust manifold retaining nuts and three-way catalytic converters.

INSTALLATION
^ Install three-way catalytic converter flange to exhaust manifold retaining nuts and three-way catalytic converters. Align exhaust system to conform to clearance specifications. Tighten all nuts to 23.3-31.7 Nm (17-23 ft lb).
^ Slide muffler inlet pipe over dual converter Y pipe so the dual converter Y pipe is bottomed into muffler inlet pipe. Position exhaust clamp and tighten to 34-46 Nm (26-33 ft lb).
^ Engage dual converter Y pipe with exhaust outlet pipe frame bracket studs. Slide dual converter Y pipe and muffler inlet pipe forward.
^ Position dual converter Y pipe inlet flanges to three-way catalytic converters and install new retaining nuts. Do not tighten nuts.
^ Install new retaining nuts on exhaust outlet pipe frame bracket studs. Do not tighten.
^ Align dual converter Y pipe and muffler inlet pipe. Tighten all nuts to 23.3-31.7 Nm (17-23 ft lb).
^ With muffler supported by exhaust outlet pipe frame brackets, install muffler inlet flange over muffler inlet pipe flange studs. Install, but do not tighten, retaining nuts.
^ Align muffler. Tighten flange nuts to 29.7-40.3 Nm (22-30 ft lb).
