Identification Tag:

This transmission may be identified by the tag attached to the upper righthand extension housing to transmission case bolt. The tag includes model prefix and suffix, a service identification number, and a build date code. The service identification number indicates changes to service details which affect interchangeability when the transmission model is not changed. For interpretation of this number the Ford Master Parts Catalog should be consulted.
