- Vacuum leaks
- Fuel level and quality
- Ignition wiring connections
- Air intake filters, tubes and gaskets
- Aftermarket alterations
- Basic engine (valves, timing, etc.)
DESCRIPTION
This pinpoint test contains instructions for isolating an intermittent fault. It combines the use of a Scan Tool with a Breakout Box (BOB), a fuel psi gauge, vacuum gauge, DVOM, Transmission Tester and Ignition Tester Actual values can be compared to typical values listed in the Diagnostic Reference Values to aid in finding the fault. Also refer to Intermittent Diagnostic Techniques, for further help in isolating and repairing the fault.
If available, the Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) can be used for Intermittent Diagnostics. Refer to Diagnostic Tools for additional information on SBDS.
