G - Heated Outside Mirror Does Not Defrost

PINPOINT TEST G: HEATED OUTSIDE MIRROR DOES NOT DEFROST

G1 - Check Inoperative Mirror Defrost Operation

- Remove Outside Rear View Mirror glass from inoperative outside rear view.
- Disconnect heated outside rear view mirror connectors.
- Connect test lamp between heated outside rear view mirror connectors circuit 59 (DG/P) and 57 (BK).

- Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Turn heated back window switch and light to ON position.

Did test lamp illuminate?

YES REPLACE Mirror Glass. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to G21.

G2 - Check Circuit 59 (DG/P) For Voltage

- Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Turn heated back window switch and light to the ON position. Connect test lamp to circuit 59 (DG/P) and known good ground.

Did test lamp illuminate?

YES SERVICE circuit 57 (BK). RETEST system. RESTORE vehicle.
NO GO to G3.

G3 - Check Circuit 59 (DG/P) For Short

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Connect Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or equivalent to circuit 59 (DG/P) and a known good ground.
- Measure resistance.

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES SERVICE circuit 59 (DG/P) for short. REPLACE fuse. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to G4.

G4 - Check Circuit 59 For Open

- Remove fuse 5 (10A) and inspect.
- Connect jumper wire to circuit 59 (DG/P) at mirror connector and known good ground.
- Connect ohmmeter to known good ground and output side of fuse 5 cavity.
- Measure resistance.

Is resistance 5 ohms or less?

YES REPLACE damaged fuse 5 (10A). RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 59 (DG/P) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
