DTC B1961 - Recliner Pot Feedback Short To Ground

B1961-1 - Rerun Self-Test

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Turn ignition switch OFF. These two steps "wake up" the driver seat module.
- Open driver side door. This disables delay accessory function.

NOTE: Seat will move a short distance in each direction during self-test.

- Execute self-test.
- Inspect all circuits under seat. Make sure all potentiometers are connected.
- Clear DTCs.
- Rerun self-test.

Is DTC B1961 still present?

YES GO to B1961-2.
NO System operating normally.

B1961-2 - Test Potentiometer Input

- Using a voltmeter, carefully back probe recline up/down potentiometer input circuit 445 (O/LB) on pin C3-3 of driver seat module connector for voltage.

Is voltage less than 0.5 volt?

YES GO to B1961-3.
NO REPLACE driver seat module. RETEST system.

B1961-3 - Test Voltage

- Disconnect connector from potentiometer.
- Test circuit 449 (BR/PK) for voltage.

Is voltage reading 5 volts?

YES GO to B1961-4.
NO SERVICE circuit 449 (BR/PK) for open circuit. RETEST system.

B1961-4 - Test Circuit 445 (O/LB) For Short

- Disconnect connector C3 from driver seat module.
- Using an ohmmeter, probe recline up/down potentiometer input circuit 445 (O/LB) on pin C3-3 of driver seat module connector for continuity to ground.

Is there continuity?

YES SERVICE circuit 445 (O/LB) for short to ground. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1961-5.

B1961-5 - Test For Open Circuit

- Using an ohmmeter, test circuit from potentiometer to driver seat module connector pin C3-3, circuit 445 (O/LB) for continuity.

Is there continuity?

YES REPLACE potentiometer. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE (O/LB) for open.
