Cruise Control: Service Precautions

NOTE: Prior to disconnecting battery, record pre-set radio frequencies.

DISARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove air bag retaining screw covers from rear of steering wheel, then the two air bag module retaining screws.
4. Disconnect driver's air bag module connector.
5. Connect Rotunda Airbag Simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to vehicle air bag wiring harness at top steering column.
6. Remove instrument panel moldings, instrument panel finish panel retaining screws, then the panel.
7. Open glove compartment and press side inward, then lower glove compartment to floor.
8. Working through glove compartment opening, remove two lower air bag module retaining bolts.
9. Remove two remaining air bag module retaining screws, then disconnect air bag module electrical connector.
10. Connect second Rotunda Airbag Simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to wiring harness in place of passenger's air bag module.
11. Connect battery ground cable.

ARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove air bag simulator from harness connector at top of steering column.
4. Connect air bag connector.
5. Position driver's air bag on steering wheel and secure with two retaining screws. Install the two retaining screw covers to rear of steering wheel.
6. Remove air bag simulator from passenger's harness connector.
7. Install passenger's air bag as follows:
a. Connect electrical connector to air bag module in instrument panel.
b. Install upper retaining screws.
c. Install two lower module retaining bolts.
d. Return glove compartment to correct position, then install instrument panel moldings.
8. Connect battery ground cable.
9. Place ignition switch in RUN position and note air bag warning lamp operation. Indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn OFF.
