D: A/C SUNLOAD SENSOR INOPERATIVE
PINPOINT TEST D: A/C SUNLOAD SENSOR INOPERATIVED1 PERFORM EATC SELF DIAGNOSTICS TEST
- Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
- Press OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press AUTOMATIC button within two seconds.
- EATC Self Diagnosis may run as long as 30 seconds.
- After EATC Self Diagnosis, record all DTCs.
- Press the blue (cooler) button to exit EATC Self Diagnosis.
- Is error code 050, sunload sensor shorted, displayed?
- Yes
Go to D3.
- No
Go to D2.
D2 CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT SHORT CIRCUIT
- Upon completion of EATC Self Diagnosis in D1, was DTCs 052 displayed?
- Yes
Go to D6.
- No
Go to D4.
D3 CHECK SUNLOAD SENSOR RESISTANCE
NOTE: The A/C sunload sensor (19E663) is a photovoltaic cell and should have some unspecified resistance across the terminals depending on the light available to the sensor. The only test that can be performed without specialized equipment is for a short. If the resistance across the sensor terminals is zero ohms, the sensor is shorted and should be replaced.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect sunload sensor wire harness connector.
- Using a an ohmmeter, check the resistance across the two sensor connectors.
- Is there zero resistance?
- Yes
Replace shorted A/C sunload sensor. Restore vehicle. Go to D1.
- No
Reconnect battery ground cable. Go to D4.
D4 CHECK CIRCUIT 468 (BR) AT SENSOR CONNECTOR
- Turn ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Turn EATC module to NORM NC position.
- Gain access to the A/C sunload sensor as outlined. Disconnect A/C sunload sensor.
- Using voltmeter, check Circuit 468 (BR) for voltage at A/C sunload sensor connector.
- Is voltage 5 volts?
- Yes
Go to D7.
- No
Go to D5.
D5 CHECK CIRCUIT 468 (BR) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect the EATC module connector.
- Using an ohmmeter connected to good ground, connect other lead to Pin 16, Circuit 468 (BR) of the EATC module connector.
- Is resistance less than 10K ohms?
- Yes
Service circuit 468 (BR) for short. Retest system.
- No
Go to D6.
D6 CHECK CIRCUIT 468 (BR) FOR OPEN
- Using an ohmmeter, connect one lead to Pin 16, Circuit 468 (BR) of the EATC module connector and the other lead to Circuit 468 (BR) of the sun load sensor connector.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
- Yes
Replace EATC module. Retest system.
- No
Service circuit 468 (BR) for open. Retest system.
D7 CHECK CIRCUIT 470 (PK/BK) FOR OPEN
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Using an ohmmeter, connect one lead to Pin 2, Circuit 470 (PK/BK) of the EATC module connector and other lead to Circuit 470 (PK/BK) at the sunload sensor connector.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
- Yes
Go to D8.
- No
Service circuit 470 (PK/BK) for open. Retest system.
D8 CHECK CIRCUIT 470 (PK/BK) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Using an ohmmeter connected to good ground, connect other lead to Pin 2, Circuit 470 (PK/BK) of the EATC module connector.
- Is resistance less than 10K ohms?
- Yes
Service circuit 470 (PK/BK) for short. Retest system
- No
Replace EATC module. Retest system.
