K: REDUNDANT STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES DO NOT FUNCTION
PINPOINT TEST K: REDUNDANT STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES DO NOT FUNCTIONK1 CHECK AUDIO SWITCHES ON SAME CONTROL
- With ignition switch in RUN and radio unit powered on.
- Do redundant controls function properly?
- YES
Go to K2.
- NO
Refer to Accessories and Optional Equipment/Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc. Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc
K2 CHECK RESISTANCE BETWEEN 1069 AND 1070
- With ignition switch in RUN and electronic automatic temperature control connector C1 and C2 disconnected and steering wheel switch control module connector C2 connected, measure resistance levels between Pin 10 (1069 (0/LB)) of electronic automatic temperature control C1 connector and Pin 3 (1070 (BR/LB)) of electronic automatic temperature control C2 connector.
- Do the readings change as you activate each climate control related switch, and when any of the switches (temp up/down, fan up/down) are activated, is the reading always less than 4K ohms?
- YES
Replace electronic automatic temperature control module. Restore vehicle. Verify system.
- NO
Go to K3
K3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1069 OPEN
- Disconnect steering wheel switch control module connector C2.
- Measure resistance of 1069 (0/LB) from Pin 10 of electronic automatic temperature control connector C1 to Pin 6 of steering wheel switch control C2 connectors.
- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES
Go to K4.
- NO
Service circuit 1069 open.
K4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1070 OPEN
- Measure resistance of 1070 (BR/LB) from Pin 3 of electronic automatic temperature control connector C2 to Pin 7 of steering wheel switch control C2 connector.
- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES
Go to K5.
- NO
Service circuit 1070 open.
K5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1069 SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure resistance of 1069 (0/LB) from Pin 10 of electronic automatic temperature control connector C1 to a known good ground.
- Is resistance more than 1 megaohm?
- YES
Go to K6.
- NO
Service circuit 1069 (O/LB).
K6 CHECK CIRCUIT 1069 SHORT TO B+
- With ignition switch in RUN, measure voltage on Pin 10 of electronic automatic temperature control connector C1.
- Is voltage greater than 6 volts?
- YES
Service circuit 1069 (O/LB) short to B+.
- NO
Go to K7.
K7 CHECK CIRCUIT 1070 SHORT TO B+
- With ignition switch in RUN position, measure voltage on Pin 3 of electronic automatic temperature control connector C2.
- Is voltage more than 1 volt?
- YES
Service circuit 1070 short to B+.
- NO
Replace steering wheel switch control module. Restore connections and verify system. If climate control switches still do not operate, replace RH steering wheel switch. Restore vehicle and verify system.
