B1689 - Autolamp Delay Circuit Failure
DTC B1689: Autolamp Delay Circuit FailureB1689-1 - Rerun Test
- Clear DTC.
- Turn autolamps ON.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Perform On-Demand self test.
Is DTC B1689 still present?
YES GO to B1689-3.
NO GO to B1689-2.
B1689-2 - Ensure That Switch Is Not Bad
- Cycle autolamp switch to maximum and off several times.
- Perform On-Demand self test.
Is DTC 1689 back?
YES REPLACE headlamp switch. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 217 (DB/O) for intermittent open. RETEST system.
B1689-3 - Check Switch
- Disconnect headlamp switch.
- Set autolamp switch on minimum delay time (with autolamp on).
- Using a ohmmeter, check resistance between headlamp switch terminals C2-9 and C2-1.
Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
YES GO to B1689-4.
NO REPLACE headlamp switch. RETEST system.
B1689-4 - Check For Shorted Switch
- Using an ohmmeter, check for short between headlamp switch terminals C2-9 and C2-1.
Is resistance greater than 5 ohms?
YES REPLACE headlamp switch. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 217 (DB/O) for short to ground.
