Child Restraint: Description and Operation

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL UNBUCKLING OF THE SAFETY BELT IF THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT HITS THE RELEASE BUTTON. RELEASE OF THE SAFETY BELT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURIES.
- FORD RECOMMENDS PLACEMENT OF TETHERED SAFETY SEATS IN A REAR SEATING POSITION WITH THE TETHER STRAP ATTACHED TO THE TETHER ANCHORING POINT.
- CAREFULLY FOLLOW ALL OF THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH SAFETY SEAT THAT YOU PUT IN YOUR VEHICLE. MAKE SURE THAT THE SHOULDER BELT (IF PROVIDED AT THE SEATING POSITION WHERE THE SAFETY SEAT IS BEING USED) DOES NOT CROSS OR REST IN FRONT OF THE CHILD'S FACE OR NECK. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL AND USE THE SAFETY SEAT PROPERLY, THE CHILD MAY BE INJURED IN A SUDDEN STOP OR COLLISION.
End Release Buckle Shown, Side Release Buckle Typical:
Use a child's safety seat that is recommended for the size and weight of the child. Always follow the child's safety seat manufacturer's instructions when installing and using the child's safety seat. When installing a child's safety seat, be sure to use the correct safety belt buckle for that seating position and make sure the tongue is securely fastened in the buckle (as shown in the provided illustration).
A dual locking mode retractor on the shoulder belt portion of the combination lap/shoulder safety belt for the front seat passenger and rear outboard passenger is standard. If you choose to install a forward-facing child safety seat in the front seating positions, move vehicle seat as far back as possible.
