Six-Way Power Seats

The six-way power seat has the following features:
- Horizontal, vertical and tilt adjustments
- Power seat back adjuster tilt adjustment of the seat back only
- A reversible, three-armature seat regulator motor
- A seat regulator control switch located on each front door trim panel
- Vertical gear drives and horizontal screw drive The mechanical portion of the front seat track in the horizontal drive consists of a screw drive on each track.

The pinion housing and seat regulator motor are attached to the movable section of the track.

The system operates as follows:
- To adjust the seat, move the seat regulator control switch in the desired direction
- When the seat regulator control switch is actuated horizontally, the front armature is energized and the horizontal drive units are activated
- The seat is then moved forward or rearward by the screw drive in each lower track section
- In the vertical drive, worm gear planetary reducers and sector gear mechanisms are used
- The drive units are located in the front and rear of the transmission case
- When the seat regulator control switch is actuated vertically, the center and rear armatures are energized simultaneously and the vertical drive units are activated
- The seat is then moved up or down by the sector gears
- When the front tilt portion of the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the center armature drives the front vertical sector gear and moves the seat to the desired position
- When the rear tilt portion of the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the rear armature drives the rear vertical sector gear and moves the seat to the desired position

The main components of the system are serviced as follows:
- The seat regulator motor, which contains three armatures, is serviced only as an assembly

- The seat regulator control switch is serviced separately

Circuit Protection
The power seat circuit is protected by Fuse 13 (30 A) located in the power distribution box.

Programmable
The memory seat system (if equipped) allows automatic positioning of the driver's seat to two programmable positions using the memory switch located on driver's front door trim panel finish panel.
- To program position one, press button 1, then move driver's seat to desired position using manual controls. Two seconds after moving the seat, a message appears on the message center "SAVED TO DRIVER 1".
- To program position two, repeat the previous procedure using button 2.
- To recall position one, press button 1.
- To recall position two, press button 2.
- A position can only be recalled when the gearshift lever is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
- A position may be programmed at any time by moving the seat to new desired location.
- If the memory has been lost due to power being removed from the vehicle, the memory positions will be updated when the ignition switch is first turned to RUN. These positions are stored in the virtual image instrument cluster and will update even if the driver seat module has been replaced.
- The manual seat controls are wired through the driver door module and driver seat module. If the module is not installed, or not functional, the memory or manual controls will not work.
- Sensors on the front seat track determine movement.
- If these sensors are not connected, the memory or manual system will not work.
- The memory seat system (if equipped) can be turned off by pressing the OFF button on memory seat switch.

Power Seat Back Adjuster
- The power seat back adjuster provides tilt adjustment of the seat back.
- Pressing the seat regulator control switch moves the power seat back adjuster forward or back.
- The seat regulator control switch is located on the front door trim panel.
- The power seat back adjuster assembly is a modular design and must be replaced as a unit.

The only authorized service permitted on the power seat back adjuster assembly is the following:
- Tightening of all retaining screws to specification indicated in Removal and Installation
- Replacement (in entirety) of a damaged or non-functional power seat back adjuster assembly.
- Removal of any foreign material, such as tie straps, pieces of foam and trim
