Disc Brake System: Description and Operation
FRONTFront disc brakes have the following features:
^ Pin slider-type disc brake caliper assemblies with a 294 mm (11.57 inch) full cast disc brake rotor.
^ The disc brake caliper has a steel caliper piston, with a piston seal and a trapped type disc brake caliper boot.
^ The disc brake caliper anchor bracket is attached to the wheel knuckle by two 12 mm hex bolts.
^ The disc brake caliper is attached to the disc brake caliper anchor bracket by two 10 mm hex bolts.
^ Galvanized steel disc brake rotor shield. The disc brake rotor shield is attached to the wheel knuckle with three pop-rivets per side and are not interchangeable side-to-side.
REAR
The rear disc brakes have the following features:
^ Pin slider-type rear disc brake.
^ Solid, full-cast rear disc brake rotor.
^ Full cast 256.5 mm (10.10 inch) rear disc brake rotor.
^ Hydraulically activated rear disc brake caliper.
^ Integral mechanically (cable) operated parking brake mechanism.
^ Except for the parking brake mechanism, the rear disc brake caliper is similar to the front disc brake caliper.
^ The parking brake mechanism self-adjusts during use.
^ The added parking brake lever on the back of the rear disc brake caliper is cable-operated by the parking brake control located below the instrument panel.
^ The caliper parking brake mechanism is self-adjusting.
