Parking Brake System: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe parking brake system has the following features:

^ After initial adjustment, the parking brake cable system tension is maintained by the self-adjusting rear disc brake caliper.
RELEASE
An automatic (vacuum) release that will release the parking brake when the engine is running and the transaxle is placed in a forward driving gear. A manual parking brake release handle.
BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM
The parking brake warning indicator:
^ Is actuated by the parking brake signal switch on the parking brake control.
^ Warns the driver to release the parking brake control before driving the vehicle.
^ Is located in the lower RH side of the instrument panel.
^ If the indicator remains "ON" with the parking brake control released, a brake or warning indicator malfunction has occurred.
^ Will remain "ON" if either the parking brake has not released or there is a malfunction in the hydraulic brake system.
