Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating speed control system to duplicate the condition.2. Inspect to determine if one of the mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
Mechanical
^ Inspect and verify that:
- Actuator cable is adjusted properly without holding the throttle open or increasing idle speed.
- Throttle linkage operates freely and smoothly when connected to the actuator cable and speed control servo.
Electrical
^ verify proper horn operation.
^ Verify stoplight operation.
^ Check circuit fuses.
^ Inspect and verify that:
- Connections are complete with no loose wires or terminals.
- Wiring is not broken, shorted, or corroded.
- Wiring is not misrouted.
3. If inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concern(s) remain after inspection, determine the condition(s) and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
