Camshaft, Lifters and Push Rods: Description and Operation
VALVE TRAINThe valve train consists of:
Lifters/tappets
^ Hydraulic ball tip valve tappets (6500) which provide automatic lash adjustment.
Rocker Arms
^ Roller rocker arms (6564) ride on the camshaft lobes, transferring the camshafts up and down motion to the valves in the cylinder heads (6049).
Valves
There are four valves per cylinder.
Camshaft
There are two camshafts on each head. The camshafts (6250) are:
^ Seated in journal bores on top of the cylinder head.
^ Driven from the crankshaft by individual timing chains.
