Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the rear view mirrors to duplicate the concern.
2. Inspect the components of the rear view mirror systems to determine if any of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Damaged outside rear view mirrors.
- Damaged inside rear view mirror.

Electrical
- Open fuse junction panel fuse:
+ Fuse 41 (10A), 35 (10A), 28 (10A), 30 (10A), 4 (10A) or 34 (15A)
- Power distribution box:
+ Fuse 28 (30A), 19 (30A) or 24 (40A)
- Damage to wiring harness.
- Loose or corroded connections.
- Damaged outside rear view mirror control.

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that can he readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concerns remains after inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test D. Test D : No Communication With Driver Door Module
If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver seat module, go to Pinpoint Test E. Test E : No Communication to Driver Seat Module
If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST is passed for the driver door module and driver seat module, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and execute Self Test Diagnostics for driver door module and driver seat module.
5. If self test is passed and no diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

7. If the driver door module cannot he accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test D. Test D : No Communication With Driver Door Module
If the driver seat module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test E. Test E : No Communication to Driver Seat Module
