Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power seat(s) to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Front seat tracks obstructed.
- Seat at limit(s) of travel.

Electrical
- Open fuse junction panel Fuses 35 (10A), 12 (10A), 4 (10A), 5 (10A) and 34 (15A).
- Loose, corroded or damaged connectors.
- Damaged switches.
- Damaged motors.

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the New Generation Star Tester responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver seat module, passenger seat module or steering column/ignition/lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test B Test B : No Communication to Driver Seat Module for driver seat module, Pinpoint Test C Test C: No Communication to Passenger Seat Module for passenger seat module or Pinpoint Test D for steering column/ignition/lighting control module. Test D : No Communication With Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) Control Module
If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST is passed for the driver seat module, passenger seat module and steering column/ignition/lighting control module, retrieve continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and execute Self Test Diagnostics for driver seat module and passenger seat module.
5. If self test is passed and no diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, go to the Driver Seat Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index or Passenger Seat Module Diagnostic Trouble Code Index to continue diagnostics.Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
7. If the driver seat module, passenger seat module or steering column/ignition/lighting control module cannot be accessed by the New Generation Star Tester, go to Pinpoint Test B Test B : No Communication to Driver Seat Module for driver seat module, Pinpoint Test C Test C: No Communication to Passenger Seat Module for passenger seat module or Pinpoint Test D for steering column/ignition/lighting control module. Test D : No Communication With Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) Control Module
