Removal & Installation

REMOVAL:

WARNING: SCALDING HOT COOLANT, WATER OR STEAM
NEVER remove the pressure relief cap under any conditions while the engine is operating. Failure to follow these instruction could result in DAMAGE to the cooling system or engine AND/OR personal injury. To avoid having scalding hot coolant or steam blow out of the cooling system or reservoir, use extreme care when removing the pressure relief cap from a hot cooling system or reservoir.
1. Wait until the engine has cooled.
2. Wrap a thick cloth around the pressure relief cap and turn it slowly (until the pressure begins to release.
3. Step back while the pressure is released from the cooling system.
4. When you are certain all the pressure has been released, (still with a cloth) turn and remove pressure relief cap
.

1. Remove the fan motor (8C607).





2. Remove the radiator upper sight shield (8C291).
3. Drain the engine cooling system.
4. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
1 Compress and move the hose clamp.
2 Slide hose off the radiator outlet.





5. Disconnect the radiator overflow hose.
1 Compress and move the hose clamp.
2 Slide hose off the radiator outlet.

NOTE: Loosen transmission fluid cooler lines while holding radiator connector with another wrench.





6. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler inlet and outlet lines.
7. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
1 Compress and move the hose clamp.
2 Slide hose off the radiator outlet.





8. Remove the radiator.
1 Remove the radiator bracket retaining bolts.
2 Remove the radiator retaining brackets.
3 Lift and remove the radiator.
9. If installing a new radiator, remove the two oil tube connectors.
10. Remove and replace the O-ring on radiator draincock (8115).

INSTALLATION:
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

NOTE: Top oil tube connector (7D273) is shown, bottom is similar.





2. If the oil tube connectors are removed:
1 Use Pipe Sealant with Teflon D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent oil-resistant sealer meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2.
2 Install two oil tube connectors.
