REMOVAL







1. Remove the A/C tube lock coupling clip from the spring lock coupling.







2. Fit the spring lock coupling tool to the spring lock coupling.







3. Push the tool into the cage opening to release the female fitting from the A/C tube lock coupling spring.







4. Pull the spring lock coupling fittings apart.







5. Remove the O-ring seals with a non-metallic tool (3 req'd for A/C condenser core, 2 req'd for all others).

CAUTION: Do not use metal O-ring tools. They can cause axial scratches across the O-ring grooves resulting in refrigerant leaks.







6. Remove the A/C tube lock coupling spring with a small hooked wire.

CAUTION: Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to remove the A/C tube lock coupling spring. They can cause axial scratches across the O-ring grooves resulting in refrigerant leaks.

INSTALLATION







1. Install the A/C tube lock coupling spring.







2. Clean the fittings.
1. Remove surface residue and axial scratches from inside of the female fitting with 400 grit emery cloth or equivalent using a twisting motion.
2. Polish with a 600 grit emery cloth or equivalent using a twisting motion. Wipe with a lint-free cloth.







3. Lubricate and install the O-ring seals.
1. Use Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.







4. Connect the spring lock coupling fittings with a twisting motion.







5. Install the A/C tube lock coupling clip.
