Hazard Warning Lamps: Description and Operation

The turn signal system consists of:
- multi-function switch.
- steering column/ignition/lighting control module.
- redundant directional flashers in the outside rear view mirrors.
- turn signal bulbs and circuitry.
The multi-function switch is an integrated switch design. When the multi-function switch is activated in either direction, or the hazard switch is engaged, a request is made from the multi-function switch to the steering column/ignition/lighting control module to flash the appropriate turn signal lamps, mirror indicators and turn signal indicators in the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is equipped with a relay to provide an audible click anytime one or both of the indicators illuminates.
