Drive Belt: Service and Repair

Drive belt installation:






CAUTION: Make sure belt is properly installed before starting engine, otherwise belt damage will occur.

NOTE:
^ Minor cracks in the V-grooved portion of the drive belt (8620) are considered normal and acceptable. If the drive belt has chunks missing from the ribs, it should be replaced.
^ When installing drive belts on pulley, make sure that all V-grooves make proper contact with pulleys.
^ Conditions requiring drive belt replacement are excessive wear, rib chunk-out, severe glazing, frayed cords and other concerns. Replace any drive belt exhibiting one of these conditions.

REMOVAL

WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW DRIVE BELT TENSIONER TO SNAP BACK, AS DAMAGE TO DRIVE BELT TENSIONER OR PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT.

1. Lift or rotate automatic drive belt tensioner (6B209) away from drive belt.
2. Remove old drive belt.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Incorrect drive belt installation will cause drive belt failure.

1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order. Make sure that all V-grooves make proper contact with the pulley as shown.
