Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Partially drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the generator cover.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Lift and remove the generator cover.
4. Press tab and pull the engine control sensor wiring connector away from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
5. Remove the ECT sensor from the water bypass tube.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
