Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a magnetic pickup that sends a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This VSS signal transmits vehicle speed to the powertrain control module. It is located on the LH side of the transmission.
