Procedure 1 - Electronic Deployment With Wiring Intact

NOTE: This procedure assumes that the air bag wiring remains intact; that is, no diagnostic trouble codes are indicated by the air bag warning indicator, the system proves out correctly and a battery is available.

NOTE: Refer to Service Precautions for Safety Information and Warnings.

1. Check and clear the vehicle of all loose objects.

2. Clear the vehicle of all occupants.

3. Verify the presence of a battery in the vehicle.

4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and observe the air bag warning indicator.

5. If the air bag warning indicator illuminates for six seconds and then goes off, the system is intact and may be deployed. If a series of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) appear, go to Procedure 2 - Remote Deployment.

6. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

7. Disconnect the LH kick panel rear air bag sensor and bracket; refer to Safing Sensor / Service and Repair.






8. Jump the Circuits 611 (W/O) and 614 (GY/O) in connector C235.






9. Disconnect the RH or the LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket connector.






10. Deploy the air bags.
- Short the Circuit 617 (PK/O) of RH connector C133 or the Circuit 619 (PK/W) of LH connector C138.

WARNING: Make sure there are no occupants in the vehicle.

NOTE: Wait 10 minutes after air bag deployment to handle the air bags to allow for cooling.

11. Scrap vehicle in accordance with scrap procedures.
