Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube and the wire harness from the air cleaner outlet tube.
1 Disconnect the harness from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.
2 Remove the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
1 Loosen the screws from the engine air cleaner tube clamp.
2 Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. Remove the engine air cleaner.
1 Disconnect the engine control sensor extension wiring from the connector.
2 Remove the bolts.
3 Remove the engine air cleaner from the vehicle.
5. Separate the engine air cleaner by inserting a screwdriver in the slots.
6. Remove the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
1 Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
2 Remove the screws from the sensor.
3 Remove the sensor from the engine air cleaner.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
