Battery: Description and Operation
The battery:
^ is a sealed design with two vents to release gasses.
^ is a 12 volt direct current negative ground design.
^ functions as engine cranking power source, a voltage stabilizer for the electrical system, a temporary power source when power demands exceed generator output.
^ is recyclable.
^ is located in a battery tray in the left front of the engine compartment.
Battery cables:
^ provide electrical paths to related components.
Ford Motor Company strongly recommends that lead-acid batteries be returned to an authorized recycling facility for disposal.
