Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power windows/rear window defroster to duplicate the concern.2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
- Front door window regulator damaged.
- Front door glass hinge side run damaged.
- Front door window glass out of front door glass hinge side run.
- Front door window glass broken.
Electrical
- Circuits open/shorted.
- Loose, corded connectors.
- Damaged window regulator control switch.
- Damaged window regulator electric drive.
- Damaged fuses:
+ power distribution box Fuse 28 (30A), Fuse 24 (40A)
+ fuse junction panel Fuse 41 (10A), Fuse 28 (10A)
3. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If the concern remains after inspection connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the New Generation Star Tester responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver door module or steering column/ignition/lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test A A: No Communication With Driver Door Modulefor driver door module or Pinpoint Test B for steering column/ignition/lighting control module. If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST is passed for the driver door module and steering column/ignition/lighting control module, retrieve continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and execute Self-Test Diagnostics for driver door module.
5. If the self test is passed and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes are retrieved, go to the Driver Door Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics. Driver Door Module Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
7. If the driver door module or steering column/ignition/lighting control module cannot be accessed by the New Generation Star Tester, go to Pinpoint Test A for driver door module or Pinpoint Test B for steering column/ignition/lighting control module. A: No Communication With Driver Door Module
