Power Six-Way

The six-way power seat has the following features:
^ Horizontal, vertical and tilt adjustments.
^ A seat regulator motor and gear housing.
^ Seat regulator control switch.
^ Vertical gear drives.
^ Horizontal rack-and-pinion drives.

The system operates as follows:
^ The mechanical portion of the front seat track in the horizontal drive consists of a rack-and-pinion drive on each track.
^ The pinion housing and seat regulator motor is attached to the movable section of the track.
^ When the seat regulator control switch is actuated horizontally, the center armature is energized and the horizontal drive units are activated.
^ The seat is then moved forward or rearward by the pinion gears traveling in a rack in each lower track section.
^ In the vertical drive, worm gear reducers and sector gear mechanisms are used.
^ The drive units are located in the front and rear of the transmission case.
^ When the seat regulator control switch is actuated vertically, the front and rear armatures are energized simultaneously and the vertical drive units are activated.
^ The seat is then moved up or down by the sector gears.
^ When the front tilt portion of the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the front armature drives the front vertical worm gear and moves the seat to the desired position.
^ When the rear tilt portion of the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the rear armature drives the rear vertical worm gear and moves the seat to the desired position.

The main components of the system are serviced as follows:
^ seat regulator motors and transmission are serviced as a unit.
^ seat regulator control switch and housing assembly are serviced separately.

CIRCUIT PROTECTION
Circuit protection is provided as follows:
^ Circuit protection to the power seats is provided by Circuit Breaker 14 (20A) Fuse 8 (15A) and Fuse 11 (5A), located in fuse junction panel.
^ Circuit protection to the heated seats is provided by Fuse 5 (30A) Fuse 8 located in power distribution box, and Fuse 1 (15A), located in fuse junction panel.
^ The power seat motor circuit is protected by circuit breakers mounted in each seat regulator motor armature.

PROGRAMMABLE
The optional memory seat system allows automatic positioning of the driver seat to three programmable positions:
^ To program position 1, move driver seat to desired position using seat regulator control switch. Press the SET button. Within five seconds (before the Light Emitting Diode (LED) goes out) press button 1.
^ To program position 2, repeat the previous procedure using button 2.
^ To program position 3, repeat the previous procedure but press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously.
^ To recall position 1, press button 1. To recall position 2, press button 2. To recall position 3, press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously.

Programmable seats have the following features:
^ A position can only be recalled when the transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
^ A position may be programmed at any time.
^ When power is first applied to the vehicle, the current position of the driver seat is stored in all three memory locations.
^ The seat regulator control is wired through the seat regulator control processor. If the seat regulator control processor is not installed or not functional, the memory or seat regulator control will not work.
^ Sensors on the seat track determine movement. If these sensors are not connected, the seat regulator control processor and seat regulator control will not work.

SEAT BACK ADJUSTER

Manual
The manual seat back recliner system operates as follows:
^ The reclining seat back is adjusted by a front seat back adjusting handle on the outboard side of the seat cushion.
^ The front seat back adjusting handle releases the front seat back latch located on the outboard rear corner of the seat assembly.
^ The front seat back latch provides the seat back pivot.
^ To recline the seat back, rotate the front seat back adjusting handle upward and push the seat back to the desired position and release the front seat back adjusting handle.
^ Spring action will return the seat back to its full-up position when the front seat back adjusting handle is rotated upward and occupant back pressure is removed.
^ The front seat back latch is a modular design and components cannot be serviced or replaced individually.
^ The entire front seat back latch assembly must be replaced if any component is non-functional or damaged.

Power
The power recliner has the following features:
^ The power seat back adjuster located on the outboard rear corner of the seat assembly.
^ To move the seat back forward or backward, operate the seat regulator control switch on the seat.
^ The power seat back adjuster moves the seat back forward or backward and provides the seat back pivot.
^ The power seat back adjuster is a modular design and components cannot be serviced or replaced individually.
^ The entire power seat back adjuster assembly must be replaced if any component is non-functional or damaged.
