Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power seat(s) to duplicate the condition.2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
^ Seat tracks obstructed.
^ Seat at limit(s) of travel.
^ Damaged lumbar support hose.
^ Damaged lumbar support, switch and valve.
Electrical
^ Open circuit breaker 14 (20 A) in fuse junction panel.
^ Open fuse junction panel Fuse 8 (15 A), Fuse 1 (15 A), Fuse 11 (5 A).
^ Open power distribution box Fuse 5 (30 A).
^ Loose, corroded or damaged connectors.
^ Damaged switches.
^ Damaged motors.
3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after inspection, connect Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. It the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver seat module, go to Pinpoint Test C. Test C: No Communitcation With Driver Seat Module (DSM)
If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test D. Test D: No Communication With Driver Seat Module
If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test is passed for the driver seat module or driver door module, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) and execute Self Test Diagnostics for the driver seat module or driver door module to retrieve current DTCs.
5. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If DTCs are retrieved for the driver seat module, go to Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics. Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
If DTCs are retrieved for the driver door module, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) DTC Index to continue diagnostics. Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
7. If the driver seat module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test C. Test C: No Communitcation With Driver Seat Module (DSM)
If the driver door module cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test D. Test D: No Communication With Driver Seat Module
Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS(R)) 001-00001 may also be used to diagnose this system.
