Battery Saver
Battery saver prevents excessive drain from loads inadvertently left on. When the ignition switch is turned OFF, power is interrupted to the:^ Courtesy lamps after 10 minutes.
^ Demand lamps after 30 minutes.
^ Headlamps after 10 minutes.
BATTERY SAVER INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
Inputs
^ Luggage compartment door ajar switch.
^ Dome lamp switch.
^ Front illuminated entry switches.
^ Hood open switch.
^ Ignition switch status.
^ Illuminated entry signal.
^ Keyless entry keypad.
^ Keyless entry remote transmitter.
^ Luggage compartment door release.
Outputs
^ Courtesy lamps.
^ Demand lamps.
^ Headlamps.
When the ignition switch is turned OFF, the courtesy lamps interrupt timer and demand lamps interrupt timer begin their time-out. The interrupt timer is a feature of the lighting control module. Power is available to the lamps during time-out. At the end of the 9-11 minute time-out period, the lighting control module disables power to the courtesy lamps. At the end of the 25-35 minute time-out period, the lighting control module disables power to the demand lamps. The following lamps are affected:
Courtesy Lamps
^ Front door courtesy lamps.
^ Rear reading lamps.
^ Instrument panel courtesy lamps.
^ Front map lamps.
^ Rear door courtesy lamps.
^ Door lock cylinder lamps.
Demand Lamps
^ Glove compartment lamp.
^ Vanity lamps.
^ Luggage compartment lamp.
^ Engine compartment lamp.
^ Rear map lamps.
^ Front map lamps.
Turning the ignition switch to ACC or RUN will terminate the battery saver feature by disabling the interrupt timers and reinstating power to the lamps.
A reset event will set the courtesy lamps interrupt timer to zero. The reset events for the courtesy lamps interrupt timer are as follows:
^ Turning ON the courtesy lamps by using the dome lamp switch.
^ Detecting a change in state in the illuminated entry signal (from either the door handles or the driver door module).
^ Opening any door (as detected by the interior lamp switches).
A reset event will set the demand lamps interrupt timer to zero. The reset events for the demand lamps interrupt timer are as follows:
^ Opening the hood.
^ Opening the luggage compartment door.
^ Detecting a change in state in the illuminated entry signal (from the driver door module).
^ Opening any door (as detected by the interior lamp switches).
When the PANIC button on a keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed or an anti-theft system violation occurs, the panic alarm or anti-theft alarm function will override the courtesy lamps, demand lamps and headlamps battery saver functions for the duration of the alarm.
