Engine Oil Viscosity

NOTE: All engines are filled with SAE 5W-30 oil at the factory.

To choose the correct viscosity oil, consider the temperatures in which the vehicle will be driven. SAE 5W-30 oil is preferred in all climate conditions. SAE 10W-30 is acceptable in moderate to hot climates.

Ford recommends using engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C153-E and licensed as CERTIFIED FOR GASOLINE ENGINES by the American Petroleum Institute (API Certification).
