MESHLOAD CHECKING AND SETTING
Vehicles With 0-8045 km (0-5000 miles)
Checking: Reset if maximum on-center gear assembly preload measured while rocking input shaft over center is equal to the off-center gear assembly preload 45 degrees from the right stop.

Reset: Reset torque measured rocking across center to a value 0.56-1.02 Nm (5-9 inch lbs.) greater than that measured 45 degrees from the right stop.

Vehicles With More Than 8045 km (5000 miles) Or Where The Sector Shaft Has Been Replaced
Checking: Reset if maximum on-center gear assembly preload measured while rocking input shaft over center is equal to the off-center gear assembly preload 45 degrees from the right stop.

Reset: Set torque measured rocking across center to a value 0.90-1.36 Nm (5 inch lbs. Nominal) greater than that measured 45 degrees from the right stop.

[a] Specified torque because the length of the tool required to torque the nut will affect the reading on the torque wrench. The torque reading should be computed using the length of the torque wrench and the nominal specified torque as follows:
Torque (using tool) = Length of Torque Wrench x 98 (Metric) (72 English)-T66P-3553-B = Length of Torque Wrench + 5.5 inches-Example: With 13-inch torque wrench-13 In. x 98 (72) = 13x98 (72)=67 (50) 13 In. + 5.5 = In. 18.5
