Suspension Control ( Automatic - Electronic ): Adjustments

The rear suspension ride height D dimension is adjusted by moving the rear air suspension height sensor mounting bracket up or down based on the LH rear suspension upper arm position. A slot adjustment nut is provided on the bracket to adjust up or down as requited. A one index mark change to the air suspension height sensor mounting bracket will yield approximately 9 mm (0.35 inch) change (up or down) to the vertical D dimension.

CAUTION: The suspension height D dimensions are for reference only. The vehicle attitude must be controlled by the dimensions shown to prevent vehicle damage.

Improper suspension ride height D dimension may be caused by an Air Suspension system that is not set properly. Check the suspension D dimension ride height as follows:
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface over an open service pit or equivalent.
2. Open luggage compartment door and make sure the air suspension switch is ON. Then open the driver door only and turn ignition switch to RUN.
3. Add weight to rear bumper. Rear of vehicle will rise to trim position.
4. After reaching trim (air compressor stops), remove weight and close driver's door. Vehicle will lower to correct ride height.
5. Rock the vehicle sideways to remove the effect of suspension friction, and allow it to settle.
6. Turn OFF air suspension switch to prevent actuation of air suspension system.
7. Remove weld flash as required from inboard frame reinforcement rail surface.
8. Measure dimension vertically from axle shaft to frame inboard reinforcement rail.
9. From the LH side of vehicle, position the Dimension Gauge-Ride Sensor T90P-5995-B on the axle tube so gauge post will contact frame inboard reinforcement rail in a vertical position.
10. Hold gauge in place and release thumb screw. Slide the post up until gauge contacts frame inboard reinforcement rail, hand tighten thumb screw and remove gauge by rolling it rearward off the axle tube.

11. If D ride height dimension is not within specification, adjust by moving the rear air suspension height sensor attaching bracket up or down. Moving the bracket one index mark up or down will change the vertical D dimension approximately 9 mm (0.35 inch).

CAUTION: Before adjusting air suspension height sensor, turn air suspension switch off to prevent vehicle damage.

12. After the adjustment is made, repeat Steps 6 through 10.
