Removal

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE LH LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.







2. Disconnect the transmission wiring harness connectors located on the transmission crossmember.
3. Lower the vehicle.







4. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
1 Loosen the bulkhead electrical connector bolt.
2 Disconnect the electrical connectors.







6. Disconnect the LH bulkhead electrical connector.
1 Loosen the bolt.
2 Disconnect the LH bulkhead electrical connector.







7. Unclip the LH bulkhead electrical connector from the dash panel.
8. Remove the steering column.
9. Remove the floor console.
10. Remove the radio chassis.







11. Position the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) module aside.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Position the EATC module aside.







12. Remove the EATC module.
1 Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2 Remove the nuts.
3 Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
4 Remove the EATC module.







13. Remove the heater outlet duct.







14. Position the LH and RH front door weatherstrips aside.







15. Remove the LH and RH cowl side trim panels.







16. Remove the LH and RH roof side inner front mouldings.







17. If equipped, on LH roof side inner front moulding, disconnect the mobile phone speaker electrical connector.







18. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
1 Lift the rear edge of the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
2 Disconnect the A/C sunload sensor electrical connector.
3 Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.







19. Remove the windshield wiper control module and bracket.
1 Disconnect the electrical connector.
2 Remove the screw.
3 Remove the windshield wiper control module and bracket.







20. Disconnect the LH wiring harness connectors.
1 Loosen the bulkhead electrical connector bolt.
2 Disconnect the LH wiring harness connectors.







21. Disconnect the ignition/shifter interlock cable.
1 Depress the locking tab.
2 Release the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the pawl.







22. Remove the RH instrument panel insulator.
1 Remove the pushpins.
2 Remove the courtesy lamp and socket.
3 Remove the instrument panel insulator.
23. Remove the glove compartment.
24. Remove the passenger side air bag module.







25. Disconnect the EATC sensor hose and elbow.







26. Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.







27. Disconnect the wiring harness in-line connector through the glove compartment opening.







28. Remove the RH cowl side insulator pad.
- Remove the pushpin.







29. Disconnect the RH wiring harness connectors.







30. Disconnect the antenna cable in-line connector.







31. Unseat the transmission wiring harness grommet from the floorpan.







32. Remove the LH instrument panel cowl side nuts.







33. Remove the instrument panel center support nuts.







34. Remove the instrument panel to floor bracket.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the instrument panel to floor bracket.







35. Remove the RH instrument panel cowl side nut.







36. Remove the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
37. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

CAUTION: When removing the instrument panel, be sure to feed the transmission wiring harness through the floor pan opening or damage to the wiring harness may occur.

NOTE: Two technicians are required to remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
