Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators: Description and Operation

The instrument cluster backlighting and panel lighting is controlled through the headlamp switch and panel dimmer switch. The following are illuminated components under this system:
- Instrument cluster
- Headlamp switch
- Radio chassis
- Heated seat control switches
- Electronic Automatic Climate Control (EATC)
- Message center switches
- Rear window defrost control
- Speed control switches
- Ashtray
- Door lock switches
- Power window switches
- Door handles
- Power mirror adjust switches







Illumination power is available to these components through circuit 235(R/BK) when the headlamp switch is set to the PARK or HEADLAMP position, or when the autolamp system is active. Intensity for these lamps is adjusted by rotating the PANEL DIM control up or down.
