Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVALCAUTION: The mass air flow sensor hot wire sensing element and housing are calibrated as a unit and must be serviced as a complete assembly. Do not damage the sensing element (internal to housing) or possible failure of the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF sensor) may occur.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube and the wire harness from the air cleaner outlet tube.
1 Disconnect the harness from the Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT sensor).
2 Remove the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
1 Loosen the screws from the engine air cleaner tube clamp.
2 Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. Remove the engine Air Cleaner (ACL).
1 Disconnect the engine control sensor extension wiring from the connector.
2 Remove the bolts.
3 Remove the engine air cleaner from the vehicle.
5. Separate the engine air cleaner by inserting a screwdriver in the slots.
6. Remove the mass air flow sensor.
1 Disconnect the connector from the mass air flow sensor.
2 Remove the two nuts which secure the mass air flow sensor to the inner cover.
3 Remove the mass air flow sensor from the the inner cover. Make sure the gasket between the inner cover and the mass air flow sensor is still positioned correctly on the inner cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
