Removal





1. Turn the air suspension switch OFF.

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE TURNED OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS, WHICH CAN RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.

2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.





4. Separate the front suspension lower arm ball joint from the spindle.
- Remove the ball joint-to-spindle retaining nut.
- While pulling down on the front suspension lower arm ball joint, rap the spindle with a hammer.

NOTE: Support the spindle by wire or other means to prevent excessive sagging.





5. Mark the position of the large nut on the front suspension lower arm strut behind the sub-frame mount.

CAUTION: Do not apply any tools to the elbow area of the front suspension lower arm strut or damage will occur.





6. Remove the lower arm strut front retaining nut and bushing.
1 Remove the rubber bumper.
2 Remove and discard the lower arm strut retaining nut at the front suspension lower arm.
3 Remove the washer and bushing.





7. Remove the lower arm strut rear retaining nut and bushing.
1 Remove and discard the lower arm strut retaining nut at the sub-frame.
2 Remove the washer, bushing and the ferrule.





8. Back off the large nut on the lower arm strut behind the sub-frame and remove the front suspension lower arm strut.





9. Discharge the air suspension system and remove the solenoid valve.





10. Remove the front spring and shock to front suspension lower arm nut and bolt.





11. Remove the front suspension lower arm pivot nut and bolt.

NOTE: Mark the position of the camber adjustment cam.





12. Remove the front suspension lower arm ball joint.
1 Clamp the front suspension lower arm in a vise.
2 Assemble the Ball Joint Remover, the Remover Receiving Cup and the U-Joint Tool.
3 Press out the front suspension lower arm ball joint.
