Upper

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front spring and shock.





2. Remove and discard the upper spindle to front suspension arm ball joint pinch bolt and nut.





3. Separate the front suspension arm bushing joint from the spindle.

NOTE: Slightly spread the slot in the top of the spindle.





4. Remove the front suspension arm bushing joint.
- In the engine compartment, remove the upper arm to shock tower retaining nuts.
- Remove the upper arm bolts.





5. Remove the upper arm from the vehicle.
- If the bushings are OK, or the front suspension arm bushing joint is being replaced, proceed to installation step 3.





6. Install the bushing removal tools.
1 Place the Bushing Remover onto the thrust screw.
2 Insert the thrust screw through the bushing.
3 Place the remover collets over the bushing flange.
4 Place the ring over the remover collets.
5 Thread the Bushing Replacer onto the thrust screw.





7. Turn the thrust screw clockwise to force the bushing out.

INSTALLATION





1. Install the new bushing.
1 Position the new bushing into the upper arm from outside.
2 Place the Bushing Remover onto the thrust screw.
3 Place the Bushing Replacer onto the thrust screw.
4 Insert the thrust screw through the bushing.
5 Thread the Bushing Replacer onto the thrust screw.





2. Turn the thrust screw clockwise until the halves of the Bushing Replacer bottom out against each other.





3. Tighten mounting bolts to specification while holding the front suspension arm ball joint in a horizontal position.





4. Position the ball joint and install a new upper spindle to front suspension arm ball joint pinch bolt and nut.
5. Install the front spring and shock assembly.
