Removal
REMOVAL1. Turn the air suspension switch OFF.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove and discard the rear axle wheel hub retainer.
5. Remove the rear disc brake caliper, rear disc support bracket and rear disc brake rotor. See Brakes and Traction Control. Support the rear disc brake caliper with safety wire.
6. Remove the upper rear suspension arm and bushing-to-rear wheel knuckle nut and bolt.
7. Wire the upper rear suspension arm and bushing out of the way.
8. Separate the rear wheel knuckle from the lower rear suspension arm and bushing.
1 Mark the position of the rear suspension arm bushing in relation to the rear wheel knuckle.
2 Holding the front bolt stationary, remove the retaining nut.
3 Holding the rear bolt stationary, remove the retaining nut.
CAUTION: Failure to mark the position of the rear suspension arm bushing will result in bushing wind-up on assembly, causing misalignment.
9. Separate the rear hub and halfshaft.
1 Attach the hub remover and adapters to lug bolts.
2 Turn nut on forcing screw counterclockwise until halfshaft is free in rear hub.
10. Remove the rear wheel knuckle.
1 Remove the lower bolts.
2 Remove the washers.
3 Remove the rear wheel knuckle from the vehicle.
11. Separate the rear hub from the rear wheel knuckle.
1 Place the rear wheel knuckle in a vise.
2 Place the step plate adapter over the hub.
3 Install the 2-3 Jaw Puller.
4 Turn the forcing screw clockwise to press out the rear hub.
12. Remove the wheel bearing retaining ring.
13. Press the wheel bearing out of the rear wheel knuckle.
1 Place the hub support and rear wheel knuckle on press bed.
2 Place the front hub bearing remover/replacer over bearing.
3 Carefully press out the wheel bearing.
