Special Tools

REMOVAL
1. Remove the windshield wiper arms and blades.

WARNING: SAFETY GLASSES AND GLOVES MUST BE WORN TO PREVENT INJURY.

2. Remove the cowl vent screen.
3. Remove the inside rear view mirror.
4. Lower the headliner near the windshield opening. Place a block of suitable material between the headliner and the roof to maintain clearance.
5. Partially remove the front door weatherstrip.
6. Remove the LH and RH windshield garnish molding.
7. Remove the instrument panel upper finish panel.







8. Use the Rotunda Pneumatic Knife with Offset Blade 107-R1511 or the Rotunda Interior Auto Glass Cut-Out Knife Kit or equivalent to cut the adhesive. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions when using the tool.

CAUTION: Cover the instrument panel in order to prevent possible damage.







9. Remove the windshield and molding assembly using a suitable suction tool.







10. Trim the remaining urethane on the pinch weld to within 1.0 and 2.0 mm (0.04 and 0.08 Inch) thickness.

NOTE: Clean the area around the existing urethane prior to trimming.

11. Check the pinch weld sealing area for damaged sheet metal, rust or foreign objects which may cause glass breakage. Repair the metal if necessary.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply Urethane Metal Primer ESB-M20234-A or equivalent to any exposed or damaged metal on the pinch weld.

NOTE: A minimum of 10 minutes is required for the primer surface to dry.

2. Align the "V" notch in the ceramic paint and windshield outside molding at top center. Fully seat the windshield outside molding along the top edge of the windshield glass and along the sides and bottom edges of the windshield glass.

NOTE:
- Place the windshield glass inside up on a low, stable work surface.
- If the molding is already on the windshield glass, proceed to Step 3.

3. Clean the windshield glass with a non-alcohol based window cleaner.
4. Using a wool applicator, wipe the inside glass edge with Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C 21 mm (0.8 Inch) wide along the top and sides and 70 mm (2.75 Inch) wide along the bottom. Wipe off the glass prep and repeat the glass prep application.

NOTE: Wipe off the urethane glass prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent immediately after application because it flash dries. Two coats of the Urethane Glass Prep must be applied.

5. Align the windshield glass to the body.
- Place the windshield glass to the body.
- Center the windshield glass in the opening.
- Adjust the windshield stops.
- Mark the windshield glass alignment on the glass and the body.
6. Remove the windshield glass from the vehicle and place it back on the work table.
7. Thoroughly shake and stir the Urethane Glass Primer WSH-M2G314-B or equivalent to make sure of even pigment mixing.
8. Using a clean wool applicator, apply primer to inside glass edges 21 mm (0.8 Inch) along the top and sides and 70 mm (2.75 Inch) wide along the bottom.

NOTE: Allow a minimum of five minutes for the glass primer to dry.

9. Install the instrument panel upper finish panel.







10. Apply the new Urethane Adhesive WSB-M2G316-B or equivalent in an even bead onto the existing urethane on the pinch weld. The bead should be triangular in shape.

NOTE:
- Leave a door window slightly open until the adhesive is cured.
- Apply the new urethane on top of the existing material on the pinch weld.

11. Install the windshield glass on the pinch weld. Align the windshield glass to the body using the alignment marks.
12. Install the removed components.
1 Install the headliner.
2 Install the cowl vent screens.
3 Install the windshield wiper arms and blades.
4 Install the windshield molding assemblies.
5 Install the inside rear view mirror.
13. Check the installation for air and water leaks through the urethane seal.
