Principles of Operation (How Does It Work?)
The perimeter anti-theft system is controlled by the Lighting Control Module (LCM) and monitors exterior switches for intrusion. These switches include the door ajar switches, the door disarm switches, the luggage compartment lock cylinder, and the anti-theft control bracket and switch. A violation of any of these switches will result in a periodic sounding of the horn and flashing of the headlamps, parking lamps and courtesy lamps. The arming sequence begins when the ignition switch is turned off and a door is opened. This starts the LED indicator lamp flashing and the system begins the arming sequence. The system monitors the door ajar status and lock status. The system arms 30 seconds after both are locked and closed. This occurs when the doors are locked using either the power lock buttons inside the vehicle, the lock button on the keyless entry remote transmitter, or the keyless entry keypad.
The arming sequence will cancel if:
^ Any door is opened during the 30 second arming sequence.
^ The ignition switch is turned to ACC or RUN.
^ The doors are unlocked using the door lock cylinder.
^ The doors are unlocked using a keyless entry code using the keyless entry remote transmitter. The system can be armed after being disarmed if the doors are closed, and the ignition switch is OFF, by:
^ Pressing the keyless entry remote transmitter lock button.
^ Locking the doors with the keyless entry keypad. Arming will occur 30 seconds after the arming sequence is started.
Once the system is armed, any violation of the protected areas will set off the alarm. The hood may remain open without the alarm sounding if the hood was open during the entire arming sequence.
