Keyless Entry: Description and Operation
The power door lock system is controlled by the Driver Door Module (DDM). The DDM will lock or unlock the driver door or passenger door or open the luggage compartment or the fuel filler door depending on the input it receives. The inputs to the system are supplied through the keyless entry remote transmitter, the keyless entry keypad, the door lock switch, the fuel filler door switch, the luggage compartment door release switch or the door key.
Unlock driver door mode is triggered by pressing the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter, by pressing the programmed code on the keyless entry keypad or by turning the door key once. This mode unlocks the driver door only. To unlock the passenger door, press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter a second time within five seconds of unlocking the driver door, press 3/4 button on the keyless entry keypad, turn the door key a second time, or press the UNLOCK button on the power door lock switch.
Lock all doors mode is triggered by pressing the LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter, by pressing both the 7/8 and the 9/0 buttons on the keyless entry keypad simultaneously, by pressing the LOCK button on the power door lock switch or by triggering the autolock function.
The autolock function occurs when all the following parameters are met:
^ The autolock feature is activated (turned on in the driver setting menu in the message center).
^ All doors are fully closed.
^ The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
^ The transmission range selector is in any forward range.
^ The vehicle speed exceeds 5 km/h (3 mph).
Unlock luggage compartment mode is activated by pressing the luggage compartment door release switch, by pressing the 5/6 button on the keyless entry keypad within five seconds of entering a valid code or by pressing the luggage compartment door release switch on the keyless entry remote transmitter twice within five seconds.
Unlock fuel filler door mode is triggered by pressing the fuelfiller door switch on the driver door trim panel.
The child safety lock has been designed into the rear door latch. The lever is moved up to lock and down to unlock the child safety system. Both rear door child safety locks must be engaged in the lock position to protect the child in the rear of the vehicle.
