Wheel and Tire - Securitire
RemovalCAUTION: Securitire tires must be mounted on SH-M wheels. Securitire tires mounted on non-SH-M wheels will not perform correctly at low or zero pressure.
CAUTION: The tire bead must be well lubricated with a ready-to-use liquid soap that meets Ford specification WSS-M99B-1X6-A or equivalent, to prevent damage to the tire.
1. Following the mounting machine manufacturer's instructions, position the wheel and tire assembly on the mounting machine.
2. WARNING: Do not allow the breaker bar to enter 45° of either side of the low tire pressure sensor.
To prevent damage to the low tire pressure sensor:
1 Mark the area on the tire opposite the valve stem.
2 Mark the tire 45° on both sides of the first mark.
3. Position the bead loosener head at the illustrated distance from the edge of the wheel at the valve stem. Lubricate this area of the tire with generous amounts of ready-to-use liquid soap meeting Ford specification WSS-M99B-186-A or equivalent while the bead loosener head has pressure on the side wall of the tire.
4. Note: Lubricate the bottom of the tire with a ready-to-use liquid soap that meets Ford specification WSS-M99B-186-A or equivalent.
Note: Avoiding the marked area of the tire, break the beads on both sides of the tire.
Note: Lubricate both tire beads and the rim flange liberally with ready-to-use liquid soap meeting Ford specification WSS-M99B-186-A or equivalent.
Position the tire mounting/dismounting foot just past the low tire pressure sensor so that it will move away from the low tire pressure sensor area. Remove top bead of the tire from the wheel.
5. Position the tire to clear the low tire pressure sensor, mounting strap and counterweight.
Installation
1. WARNING: Serious or fatal injury can result from incorrect mounting, underinflation, overloading or tire damage due to abusive use. The tire and wheel size must match when mounting the tire on the wheel. Never exceed 278.8 kPa (40 psi).
Follow normal tire mounting procedures and the mounting machine manufacturer's instructions.
2. Install the bottom bead.
- Visually locate the low tire pressure sensor transmitter.
- Position the bottom bead in drop center between the low tire pressure sensor and bottom flange.
- Place the tire mounting/dismounting foot in position and start tire bead just before the low tire pressure sensor so that it moves away from the sensor and the last part of the bead ends at the sensor. Install the bottom bead on the wheel.
3. CAUTION: Make sure the last part of the bead to drop onto the wheel is over the low tire pressure sensor.
Install the top bead.
- Install the top bead on the wheel so the mounting arm moves away from the low tire pressure sensor.
- Use a tire bar to hold the bead in the drop well of the wheel.
4. Inflate the tire to specification.
